The Role We're seeking an experienced UI Manager to lead the design and management of our website's UI components, ensuring consistency, accessibility, and alignment with our brand standards. This is a strategic role that combines hands-on design, stakeholder collaboration, and a focus on the overall user journey across highly regulated environments.
The Person:
You bring 8+ years of experience in UX/UI roles, with a proven track record of designing customer-facing platforms within highly regulated sectors.
You have a strong impact-driven approach, backed by measurable results and user insights.
You excel at collaborating closely with developers, engineering teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver high-quality, accessible digital experiences.
You understand the importance of integrating brand identity seamlessly into website design.
Design Systems & UI Kit:
You will support the development, refinement, and governance of our website UI kit.
You will create and maintain reusable UI components and patterns, applying design tokens aligned with our brand guidelines.
You will take a foundational design system and develop a comprehensive UI kit, including templates, guidance, and best practices for website editors and the broader business.
Your work will enable content creators and product teams to build consistent, scalable pages and experiences, using templates and guided components derived from the core design system.
Possess experience working within a financial/insurance environment, understanding industry-specific compliance, security protocols, and user needs.
Team & Platform Collaboration:
Work collaboratively with developers, CMS teams, content editors, and brand managers to ensure the design system meets product needs.
Drive adoption of the design system through clear guidance, documentation, and best practices, maintaining high standards for quality, accessibility, and consistency.
Strategic & Data-Driven Approach:
Embrace a test-and-learn mentality, leveraging AB testing frameworks and agile methodologies.
Use qualitative and quantitative data (via GA, Decibel, insights from research teams) to identify pain points and opportunities across the user journey.
Consider multi-channel factors such as SEO, branding, marketing, and sales in your decision-making process.
Proactively address accessibility and inclusivity in all design initiatives, ensuring WCAG standards are met.
Planning & Road mapping:
Translate insights into actionable initiatives.
Prioritise features and improvements based on user impact and strategic goals.
Contribute to building a long-term roadmap for website optimization, ongoing accessibility compliance, and scalable template creation.
What You Bring
8+ years in UI/UX roles, with at least 3 years focused on website design systems.
Deep expertise in Figma-creating components, applying design tokens, and maintaining scalable systems.
Proven experience in transforming foundational design systems into comprehensive UI kits, templates, and guidance for website editors and wider business teams.
5 years experience in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery to assist in building accessible, responsive, and interactive website features
Ability to create flexible website templates that can be easily updated in the CMS.
An understanding of funnels and user journeys.
Strong knowledge of WCAG and inclusive design best practices.
Extensive experience working within regulated, sensitive environments.
Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with a proven ability to influence and align cross-functional teams.
Strategic thinker with the ability to balance brand, user needs, and technical constraints.
