Job Title: Fiber splicer Location: London (Greater London) Salary/Rate: 31-37k per anum Start Date: 23/03/2026 Job Type: Perm

Job Responsibilities/Objectives We are seeking an experienced Fibre Splicer with knowledge in fibre blowing, fusion splicing, installation, termination, and testing. The role involves leading site activities, ensuring quality workmanship, and maintaining health and safety standards across fibre projects.

  1. Splice single-mode, multimode, stranded, and ribbon fibre optic cables
  2. Carry out fibre blowing and assist with cable pulling (including rod and rope work)
  3. Lead site teams and report daily progress to the Project Manager
  4. Conduct risk assessments and monitor on-site health and safety compliance
  5. Install closures, couplers, ODFs, and cabinets
  6. Work in underground ducts, aerial installations, and internal building environments
  7. Perform OTDR, ILM, and power meter testing
  8. Carry out optical continuity and conformance testing
  9. Troubleshoot fibre faults and technical issues

Required Skills/Experience The ideal candidate will have the following:

  1. Splicing knowledge and background
  2. Strong understanding of fibre types (single-mode vs multimode)
  3. Knowledge of cable types (CAT3, CAT5, riser, plenum, PVC)
  4. Familiar with universal communications colour codes
  5. Experience with fusion splicing and testing equipment such as Fujikura, EXFO, Fitel, Sumitomo, GN Net Test
  6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  7. Willingness to travel
