Senior Software Engineer Quant Analytics Platform Location: London - On site Salary: £100,000 - £110,000

A specialist insurance business is investing in its analytical software capability, building out a proprietary platform that underpins underwriting, exposure management and portfolio decision making.

This role sits within a dedicated development team focused on the core modelling platform. The work centres on building and optimising calculation engines and data intensive systems used by actuarial and risk teams.

This is not a traditional web based Back End role. The focus is on numerical modelling, large scale data processing and performance driven engineering within a commercial environment.

You will work closely with actuarial, exposure management and project teams to translate complex modelling requirements into robust, production ready systems.

Why join

  • Work on a core platform that directly influences underwriting and portfolio decisions
  • Build and optimise systems used for actuarial and risk modelling
  • Exposure to complex numerical and data intensive engineering challenges
  • High standards environment with a focus on long term code quality and platform design
  • Established business with strong technical investment and clear direction

What you will be doing

  • Designing and developing Back End components of a proprietary modelling platform
  • Building and optimising calculation engines and data processing pipelines
  • Working with large datasets and performance sensitive systems
  • Maintaining and improving existing codebases, including modernisation and optimisation
  • Translating actuarial and risk requirements into scalable technical solutions
  • Ensuring appropriate testing, documentation and traceability across development work
  • Contributing to long term platform architecture and engineering best practice

What they are looking for

  • Strong Back End engineering experience within data intensive or analytical environments
  • Experience implementing numerical, statistical or algorithmic logic in production systems
  • Strong SQL and experience working with large datasets
  • Solid understanding of software development life cycle and version control in team environments
  • Experience with Python or similar languages such as Julia, R or MATLAB
  • Exposure to distributed or parallel processing environments
  • Ability to work closely with non engineering stakeholders to translate complex requirements
  • Experience within insurance, actuarial or risk modelling environments would be beneficial but not essential.

Apply now for consideration, we are looking to begin interviews next week.
