The RoleWe are seeking a Senior Java Developer to join us on a permanent basis via the Robert Walters Consultancy. Your first assignment will be at JPMorgan in London. What you'll do

• Design and build scalable Back End services using Java/Kotlin, applying domain-driven design principles
• Develop maintainable, testable code and evolve systems to meet changing business needs
• Architect resilient solutions that minimise failure risks and support high availability
• Ensure strong security standards to protect systems and customer data
• Troubleshoot production issues, implement fixes, and prevent recurrence
• Optimise performance, data handling, and deployment processes to support reliable, zero-downtime releases

What you bring

• Minimum 4 years' Back End development experience using Java and Spring Boot
• Strong knowledge of event-driven systems and messaging tools such as Kafka
• Experience working in cloud-native environments, including Kubernetes (user-level exposure)
• Understanding of device security and authentication in modern applications
• Familiar with engineering best practices including code reviews, testing, and end-to-end ownership
• Background in financial services or banking preferred, ideally within retail banking applications
