Java Developer - Insurance Sector
Location: London/Hybrid
Salary: £55,000 - £65,000
A Java developer is required for a leading Lloyd's of London Insurance organisation, pioneering cutting-edge insurance applications. This is to join a brand-new team onboarding a Guidewire Claims system and you will ideally come with experience building applications for insurance companies.
As a Java Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust Java applications that support our insurance operations. You will collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure our systems meet business needs and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain Java-based applications for insurance platforms.
- Enhance existing systems with new features and functionalities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver solutions.
- Implement and optimize RESTful APIs and microservices architecture.
- Participate in Agile development processes and contribute to continuous improvement.
- Ensure code quality through testing and code reviews.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for production issues.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Strong development skills in Java (3-5 years of experience).
- Experience with cloud platforms (ideally Azure).
- Familiarity with insurance industry standards and protocols.
- Knowledge of relational databases (eg, Oracle, PostgreSQL).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with policy life cycle management, risk modelling, and underwriting.
- Exposure to DevOps practices and tools.
- Knowledge of Legacy system integration and migration.
