On behalf of Tesco Bank, AMS are now looking for a Data Transformation Director for an initial contract length of 12-months on a 2 year programme of work. The role will involve UK-Wide travel to London, Edinburgh and potentially elsewhere; there is no bank policy on office attendance so most work is expected to be home working.

Purpose of the role:

This is a high-impact leadership opportunity at the heart of a complex data transformation programme. As part of the integration between two major UK banking institutions, the organisation is aligning enterprise-wide data capabilities to support a unified, scalable approach to data management and regulatory reporting.

The role will lead one of the most technically and operationally challenging areas of the programme: overseeing the transformation of credit risk data, capital models, and provisioning processes within a regulated financial services environment. With direct influence over programme direction and engagement with senior stakeholders, the successful candidate will drive delivery across a wide-ranging risk and change portfolio.

This is a rare opportunity to shape a mission-critical workstream within a flagship programme-collaborating with experienced SMEs already in place across areas such as financial crime, fraud, and IRB-while bringing focused leadership and expertise to the credit risk transformation space and helping set the strategic and delivery tone for wider activity.

What you'll do:

  • Lead a major data transformation workstream as part of a high-profile bank integration programme.

  • Oversee the alignment and delivery of credit risk data, capital modelling, and provisioning activities in a regulated environment.

  • Work closely with programme leadership and executive stakeholders to shape delivery strategy, timelines, and risk posture.

  • Collaborate with SMEs across financial crime, fraud, IRB, and other risk domains to ensure seamless coordination and execution.

  • Provide structure, clarity, and leadership across complex change and data initiatives with a focus on credit risk.

The skills you'll need:

  • Proven track record delivering large-scale transformation programmes within financial services, ideally within a regulated credit risk environment.

  • Deep understanding of credit risk, capital impairment, provisioning, and associated modelling practices.

  • Experience delivering regulatory-driven change (eg, IRB, Basel frameworks, capital adequacy programmes).

  • Strong grasp of enterprise data transformation, particularly within complex organisational or integration contexts.

  • Adept at engaging senior leadership and navigating matrixed stakeholder environments.

  • Familiarity with risk disciplines including financial crime, fraud, and modelling-able to lead delivery in partnership with existing SMEs.

  • Comfortable working across both business and technical domains, bringing structure to ambiguity and pace to execution.
