Automation Chapter Lead, 4 months, London/Hybrid, £650/day (Inside IR3)
A good client of mine, a leading retail bank are currently looking to bring on an Automation Chapter Lead on a 4 month initial contract. The role of Automation Chapter Lead is fundamental in providing strategic technology leadership for automation technologies, capabilities, and operating models.
This role will be based out of their Central London office on a hybrid basis.
Responsibilities;
- Collaborate with Enterprise Architects, Automation Architects and SMEs to select the appropriate technology capabilities and components to form a process automation platform offering that focuses on customer experience.
- Chapter leads will be assisting in engineering, building the features that customer value using their knowledge to assist and lead the team in excellence.
- Chapter leaders will be setting and defining standards and best practice and communicating to colleagues, mentoring colleagues, and contributing to engineering excellence.
- Establish ongoing technical vision and roadmaps for the team and provide advice and examples of how to design and build against this vision.
- Chapter leaders will have a strong input into measuring colleague performance and improvement of the function.
- Create business cases for when and why platforms need upgrading and present these to SLT when necessary, in an articulate manner for an audience that may not be technical.
- Maintain tech debt register and ensure engagement with Feature Teams to allocate a minimum of 20% capacity to fixing tech debt and enablers for the applications you own.
- Identify risk throughout the design and development life cycle.
- Lead, nurture, and support cross-functional teams and deliver effective cross-disciplinary collaboration throughout the development life cycle, ensuring alignment with business priorities.
- Help to develop the team by identifying any skills, knowledge, or experience gaps, and ensuring delivery of training or coaching requirements to fill any gaps in conjunction with the relevant Feature team and Chapter Leads.
- Nurture and grow the individuals in your team - cultivate one/two people who can step in for you if needed and ensure you are not a single point of failure.
Requirements;
- Clear, concise, accurate and highly fluent written and verbal English communication skills.
- High degree of initiative, self-motivation, accuracy, efficiency, attention to detail and enthusiasm for advocating quality.
- Consults with others over large or complex decisions and able to articulately document these.
- Able to work on multiple parallel streams and focus on the right priorities.
- Proven track record and passion to lead and mentor engineers within a team, driving a collaborative multi-cultural environment.
- Excellent working knowledge and experience (min 15+ years experience) of Automation solutions including Dynamics 365 CE, Azure PAAS, .Net, Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI), DocuSign, and other automation applications.
- A strong software engineering background with expertise in agile ways of working
- Experience of Continuous Integration using Jira, Confluence, SonarQube and Azure DevOps.
