Job Title: Head of Risk Location: London Salary: 125,000 per annum

Overview: An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Risk professional to join a well-established Bank based in London. The successful candidate will play a crucial leadership role in overseeing the Risk function, ensuring robust risk management practices are embedded across the business, and providing strategic oversight to all risk-related matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of a comprehensive risk management framework covering all internal and external risks.
  • Review, update, and maintain risk-related policies and procedures in line with regulatory requirements and best practices.
  • Monitor credit, market, operational, liquidity, and other risks, escalating potential breaches as required.
  • Review credit proposals, internal credit rating models, and portfolio risk to ensure alignment with risk appetite.
  • Oversee operational risk management processes, including risk registers, incident management, and risk control self-assessments.
  • Supervise market risk activities, including daily reporting, breach monitoring, and limit management.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance by reviewing risk reporting and adapting practices to meet evolving regulatory expectations.
  • Develop and promote a strong risk culture across the organisation, providing training and support to staff where needed.
  • Manage and develop a high-performing Risk team, ensuring effective succession planning, coaching, and skills development.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, senior management, and regulatory bodies to ensure risk management remains aligned with business objectives.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Extensive experience in a senior Risk Management role within the financial services sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of Risk Management frameworks, regulatory requirements, and best practices.
  • Sound understanding of UK regulatory landscape specific to risk management.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven leadership and people management experience, with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work strategically while maintaining a hands-on approach.
  • Recognised degree or professional qualification in a relevant field.
