On behalf of a leading international law firm, we are actively searching for a highly skilled and motivated Finance Manager to oversee the financial operations at their UK office. This critical role involves ensuring financial integrity, supporting strategic planning efforts, and maintaining strict compliance with UK regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with teams across London, Frankfurt, and the firm's US head office. Responsibilities
As the Finance Manager, your key responsibilities will encompass:
- Managing day-to-day financial operations, including general ledger activities, accounts payable, and treasury management (including client money operations).
- Producing accurate monthly financial results, balance sheet reconciliations, and variance analyses.
- Leading the cost budgeting process and revenue forecasting for the UK office, while also supporting broader revenue budgeting initiatives.
- Overseeing cash flow management, VAT returns, and the preparation of annual partnership tax returns.
- Ensuring compliance with Solicitors' Accounts Rules and the firm's internal financial controls.
- Spearheading the implementation and continual enhancement of financial systems and processes.
- Supervising, mentoring, and professionally developing the local finance team to maintain high performance standards.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- ACA (or equivalent) qualification, along with a degree in accounting, finance, economics, or a related field of study.
- A minimum of 5 years' professional experience within finance and accounting, preferably within a law firm or wider professional services context.
- Strong expertise and understanding of VAT/tax legislation, including experience with partnership tax.
- Solid technical accounting knowledge, with UK partnership tax experience considered highly beneficial.
- Demonstrable leadership experience in managing finance teams, with a proven record of fostering their development.
- High proficiency with Elite 3E (or similar financial management systems) and advanced Excel skills. Familiarity with tools like Power BI would be advantageous.
