Michael Page are currently supporting a leading Financial Services firm who are based in The City of London, who are looking for an experienced Finance Assistant to join them on an interim bass of up to 6 months. The role would welcome an applicant who is fully AAT Qualified or studying.

Michael Page are currently supporting a leading Financial Services firm who are based in The City of London, who are looking for an experienced Finance Assistant to join them on an interim basis of up to 6 months. The role would welcome an applicant who is fully AAT Qualified or studying.

Description

As Finance Assistant, your key responsibilities will include but will not be limited to;

  • Assist with month-end closing activities.

  • Contribute to the preparation of monthly management reports and quarterly board presentations.

  • Manage customer invoicing and oversee debt collection efforts.

  • Process supplier payments efficiently.

  • Support procurement processes for suppliers.

  • Prepare and submit regulatory reports.

  • Compile financial reports for the parent company, including UK GAAP to IFRS reconciliations.

  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.

  • Conduct cost analysis and identify potential savings opportunities.

  • Handle payroll processing and employee expense management.

  • Drive process improvements and efficiency initiatives.

  • Provide coverage and support for financial tasks during team absences.

  • Collaborate across teams to enhance financial operations and contribute to overall team success.

Profile

  • At least three years of experience in a related financial role.

  • Accounting qualifications (AAT or equivalent) are a plus but not mandatory.

  • Strong grasp of double-entry bookkeeping and financial reporting.

  • Familiarity with standard accounting principles and practices.

  • Understanding of UK payroll and pension processes (experience with payroll software preferred).

  • Hands-on experience with cloud-based accounting platforms, ideally Xero.

  • Excellent time management and attention to detail.

  • Professional approach with strong communication skills and ethical work practices.

  • Ability to handle sensitive financial data with discretion.

  • Experience collaborating across departments or exposure to cross-functional teams.
