Commercial Deputy Director (Works) - 6 Month ContractLocation: Westminster (Hybrid)Contract Length: 6 monthsIR35 Status: Inside IR35Engagement Type: ContractRole SummaryYou will operate as part of the senior commercial leadership team, providing strategic oversight and operational leadership across the Works category, including construction, facilities management, and capital programmes.Working alongside an established Deputy Director, you will lead the delivery of commercial strategies, ensure compliant procurement activity, and act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide expert-level knowledge of NEC contracts, including drafting and advising on bespoke agreementsLead the development and delivery of commercial strategies for capital and works-related projectsEnsure full compliance with public sector procurement legislation and internal governanceDrive best practice across procurement and contract managementProvide strategic commercial advice to senior stakeholders and leadership teamsLead supplier engagement, negotiations, and contract performance improvementIdentify opportunities for cost savings and value for moneyManage and develop a high-performing commercial team, including direct line managementAct as a senior stakeholder relationship manager and escalation point for risks and issuesContribute to policy development, assurance processes, and continuous improvement initiativesEssential RequirementsExtensive NEC contract experience (essential) - deep subject matter expertise requiredStrong knowledge of:Public Contracts Regulations 2015 (PCR 2015)Procurement Act 2023 (including practical application)Proven experience leading complex works/construction procurementTrack record of leading and managing high-performing teamsExperience managing and influencing senior stakeholders, including in politically sensitive environmentsStrong commercial acumen across:ConstructionFacilities ManagementDesign and professional servicesAbility to challenge stakeholders constructively and drive outcomesExcellent communication and leadership skillsQualificationsCIPS Level 5 (minimum) or equivalent experienceCIPS Level 6 (MCIPS) desirablePersonal AttributesResilient, proactive and highly organisedStrong leadership presence and influencing skillsPolitically aware with the ability to manage complex stakeholder environmentsCollaborative team player with a "can-do" attitudePassion for delivering excellence in public sector commercial servicesAdditional InformationThis role sits within a dynamic and fast-paced environment, managing a high volume of complex procurement activity.
