It is essential for all candidates to have worked in an accounts department of a UK bank. Sponsorship will not be available for this position, therefore 3+ years on visa eligibility to work in UK is essential.

Our Client is looking for a Banking Assistant Accountant to join their small team on a permanent basis. This position is full time in office, 5 days per week.

The successful candidate s primary focus will be on accounts payables, receivables, maintaining fixed asset accounting and accounting for property related revenues and expenses.

Key Responsibilities (but not limited to): • Provide vital support to the financial controller in reconciling financial records and performing bookkeeping tasks (such as posting journals, investigating aging balances, and reviewing bank reconciliations). • Support the financial controller in handling monthly and quarterly financial accounting tasks to ensure timely and accurate month-end closing. • Provide support to the financial controller in developing and implementing existing financial control processes, forecasting and budgeting. This includes coordinating the formulation of business plans and budgets in collaboration with individual business units, as well as monitoring progress toward their achievement. • Ensure the completion of the invoice processing and Accounts Payable-related tasks in a timely manner. • Reconcile the monthly AP/AR balance sheet. • Collaborate with relevant departments to manage reporting and reconciliation related to rental properties. • Ensure the completion of monthly scheduled payment runs. • Participate in the production of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports. • Identify, report and escalate material risk events, including conduct risk events and conflicts of interest, or losses.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications: • Part qualified in accounting/finance discipline (working towards full accounting qualification). • Experience working at a similar level, within accounting, banking or auditing fields, preferably in the financial services sector. • Highly competent in time management and managing high volume of invoices and expense claims in a manual environment. • Good knowledge of reconciliation principles and basic accounting knowledge for accruals and prepayments processes. • Good knowledge of SAGE and exposure to VAT principles. • Excellent IT skills including MMS office and Excel. • Proficiency for making financial evaluations and judgments and an ability to present recommendations, both oral and written.
