Key Duties & responsibilities
- Health & Safety Leadership - Champion a culture of safety on site, ensuring strict compliance with Health & Safety regulations and best practices across all operatives, supervisors, and subcontractors.
- Engineering & Design Management - Lead the mechanical design process from concept through to completion, reviewing and challenging designs to ensure technical accuracy, buildability, and compliance with client specifications and statutory standards.
- Pre-Construction & Planning - Support the pre-construction phase by developing detailed programmes, procurement schedules, and design deliverables. Provide technical input during tender and value-engineering stages to enhance project outcomes.
- Procurement & Supply Chain Management - Oversee all mechanical procurement activities, including take-offs, supplier engagement, and major plant and material call-offs. Ensure procurement aligns with budget, programme, and technical requirements.
- Site Leadership - Take overall mechanical ownership on-site, leading delivery teams and coordinating with the wider M&E project leadership to ensure seamless integration of services and achievement of project milestones.
- Commercial & Financial Control - Work closely with the commercial team to manage budgets, forecast costs, approve variations, and identify value-engineering opportunities to optimise commercial performance.
- Quality Assurance & Compliance - Implement robust quality management systems, ensuring all installations meet design intent, industry standards, and client expectations. Conduct inspections and ensure commissioning readiness.
- Team Leadership & Development - Lead, mentor, and support mechanical engineers, supervisors, and site managers, fostering collaboration and accountability across the delivery team.
- Client & Stakeholder Management - Act as a key point of contact for mechanical works, building strong relationships with clients, consultants, and stakeholders to ensure satisfaction and proactive issue resolution.
- Programme Management - Drive mechanical delivery in line with master programme, identifying and mitigating risks, managing resources efficiently, and ensuring timely completion through to handover.
- Testing, Commissioning & Handover - Oversee all mechanical commissioning activities, ensuring systems are fully tested, certified, and handed over in accordance with client requirements and project documentation.
