Irwin and Colton has been engaged by a high-profile construction contractor with a turnover of circa 250 million to recruit a Head of Health and Safety. The company are currently engaged on a broad range of major construction and infrastructure projects and the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing projects across the South East and London. You'll be managing an existing team of safety professionals, working closely with the Directors on the wider HSEQ strategy.

Responsibilities for the Head of Health and Safety will include:

• Working with the SLT and senior stakeholders to develop and continually refine the health and safety strategy
• Leading the Health and Safety team ensuring the successful delivery of the strategy on site
• Conducting health and safety incident investigations to identify root cause and making recommendations to prevent reoccurrence
• Constantly assessing opportunities for health and safety improvements and sharing best practice across the organisation
• Advise site management & site staff on HS matters;
• Conduct site health & safety compliance inspections and audits;

The successful Head of Health and Safety candidate will have:

• Proven leadership experience in a similar role ideally within construction or civil engineering or a related industry
• Experience in influencing, engaging and coaching senior management and site level operations
• NEBOSH General Certificate (Or equivalent)
• A strong technical knowledge across relevant health and safety legislation, compliance, and regulations
• Ideally a NEBOSH Diploma (although not essential)
